The artists include:
MISFIT (aka Gemma Weekes aka Goldy Loxx):
An extremely talented young lady who has performed all over the UK as part of the Word Temple team. She also was the support act for the Black Eyed Peas when they performed at the Jazz Cafe. She has just returned from a trip to New York where she was writing her debut book.

JAH MESSAN:
A Brix-Tongue favourite! Since arriving from his native home in Jamaica, Jah Messan has enthralled audiences throughout London. His extensive work with young people has been highly commended. He has released a book of short poems entitled "The Essence"
BRIDGETTE AMOFAH (supported by Ollie on guitar):
I first saw Bridgette sing at the "One Taste" events in Balham. She has truly beautiful and inspiring tones. She is the lead singer for the band "Oi Va Voi" and has just returned from Budapest to perform on the show.

EL-CRISIS:
One of the original giants of London's Spoken Word Community! When I first started out back in 2002, El Crisis was the name of the poet on everybody's lips. Since then he has performed extensively around the UK and also at the world famous Nuyorican Poets cafe in New York. His delivery is compelling and his style is unique. He has more recently been involved in working in schools, colleges and prisons, bringing his words to different audiences.
KAT FRANCOIS:
Kat is the BBC 3 TV's Slam Champion of 2004 as well as the World Slam Champion at the Rotterdam Slam finals. She is the compere of "Word-4-Word" and "Word Up!" poetry events at the Theatre Royal in Stratford. Her hosting style can never be forgotton as her acerbic wit and bubbly personality create an amazing atmosphere for what is a fantastic Spoken Word night out. She was recently nominated for the best performance poet of 2005 by the arts council.

JAMIE WOON:
I first met Jamie when he came down to perform for the show "Bespoken Word" on BBC Radio 4. Since then, I've been an avid fan and listened to him play live many a time. He sings and plays the guitar with a soulful integrity that truly inspires. He's the artist in residence for the One Taste night at the Bedford and has been featured on Salina Saliva Godden's show on Resonance FM. He is about to release an EP of his most famous work and looks set to take 2006 by storm!

INUA ELLAMS (aka PHAZE):
Inua is a fresh young talented voice on the Spoken Word scene, but he has already achieved much acclaim for his masterful use of language and imagery. He starred in the "Bringing Down the House" shows at the Albany in Deptford and has taken part at the Poetry slam at the Glastonbury Festival. As his alter ego "Phaze (the Visualist)" he is an accomplished graphic designer and has designed several flyers for a multitude of Spoken Word events. He is also set to release his first book "Fairy Negro Tales" early next year.

U'MAU:
Another Brix-Tongue regular, U'mau's sweet vocals have been a favourite amongst audiences in London. She sings songs of life and of love straight from the heart. I've often found myself humming along to one of her tunes as I drove home from the end of another late Brix-Tongue night!

DAVID J:
The self-styled "Pugilist"...Quite simply, one of the best Spoken Word/Rap artists that I have ever seen (and that's BIG talk from me!). I have always been mesmerised by verbal wordplay and complicated rhyme structure. For me David J exemplifies this, his attention to detail and performance techniques create an acoustic soundscape that hijacks the mind! He was one of the highlights of the "Word Temple" tour that showcased Spoken Word all over England. You really have to follow closely and listen carefully to each and every word that is uttered to appreciate a true lyrical master at work!
DOMINGO:
Domingo was a theatrical director in his homeland in Cuba. He now resides in the UK and has just started performing around London. His seductive Cuban melodies and harmonious voice are bound to attract him new fans on this side of the Atlantic also.
shortMAN:
No Brix-Tongue night would be complete without a poem from the great shortMAN. Since our inception 4 years ago, there has really only been one artist (aside from me!! ;) who has consistantly blown Brix-Tongue audiences away with his Spoken Word performances. I remember a few years back when he recited a poem entitled "Eulogy for Man". The crowd were so emotional that we literally had to end the night! (no other performer wanted to follow on after him!). He runs his own Spoken Word night VOICE in Brixton and has just returned from Gambia as part of his work for the "Hearts to Africa" charity foundation.
He is 1/5th of the all-star Spoken Word group Best Kept Secret and more details of them can be found at:

Enjoy the show!
