shortMAN (aka Matt Black)has been blazing on the UK poetry scene since 2000. He has performed extensively throughout the country as well as overseas including Canada, Sweden and Italy. He once completed a whistlestop 7-day tour of New York City during which he clocked 8 different poetry venues there.

He has been featured on the BBC, CBBC and ITV as well as BBC Radio, Choice FM and Resonance Fm. He starred on the track "the Rain" for UK Hip Hop artist TY's critically acclaimed "Upward" album. He runs his own regular Spoken Word night V.O.I.C.Express in Brixton, which is heralded as one of the best Spoken Word nights in London. He is one of the prominent members of the "Hearts to Africa" charity which seeks to provide clothes and essentials for children in the poorer areas on the African Continent and raises funds from his many performances.

He is also a member of the "Best Kept Secret" ensemble, which is a Spoken Word All-star group featuring TuggS.T.A.R, OneNess, Amen Noir and Shaka-Ra, who had their launch this summer.

He has released a book "Rapoetry....in Print" a CD "One of Many" all receiving an overwhelming response by the general public and has just brought out the "One of Many" DVD and latest book "shortMAFRICAN" (which I've only just bought!)

In my eyes, he is one of the best performers/entertainers on the scene today and is fully deserving of this nomination. I first saw him at Brix-Tongue back in 2002 and when he comes down today, he still burns me off my own stage at my own night!!
