Throughout the Year, International World Slam Champion winner Kat Francois has held her monthly Poetry Slam competition "Word-4-Word" at the Theatre Royal in Stratford. Poets from around the country have come down to perform and compete to be crowned Slam champion of the month.

On Sunday Dec 18th all the previous winners came together to go head-to-head and try to win the coveted crown of "Word-4-Word's Grand Slam Champion 2005". Since I had won November's contest, I was duly invited to take part.

It was a lively affair and well attended. I've always got to give props to Kat, she is definitely the best host for any Spoken Word night that I've ever seen. In fact, I'll even admit that she's way better than me when it comes to hosting events (but ssssh....don't tell nobody!:). Her sharp wit and quick responses to potential hecklers keep the crowd well entertained throughout the night.

The competition was extremely tight, and it was really difficult at times to call who was ahead of who. In the final it came down to Me Vs LITTLEman & Edge, and in the end the dynamic poetry duo came through and took the crown (and well-deserved too)

These guys are young and fresh on the scene, I first met them when they came down to perform on "Bespoken Word" for the BBC and then I saw them several times after as they co-hosted the VOICE nights in Brixton with shortMAN. As Kat mentioned on the night, it is very rare to see a Poetry double-act (You often see collaborations, but rarely ever a double act), and the verbal sparring that goes on between them and their on-stage presence makes for great entertainment.

(So congratulations guys....But next time, I wanna win though!:)
