"Born In London" is the lead track from my album and it basically deals with the issues of identity and confusion that can be felt by many inhabitants of London City whose cultural roots lie elsewhere.
It seemed to fit in well with the theme of "Parallel lives" stating that different people from different backgrounds see London through different eyes.
I was asked to perform it at a seminar about "Migration" held in Central London last year. The seminar covered a variety of subjects (many of which are included in the Index periodical), but the most interesting of which was a panel discussion on the question "Has Multi-Culturalism Failed?"
Bear in mind that this seminar was held only a few months after the July bombings, so it brought out an intense debate comprising of a variety of differing viewpoints.
Evidently the confusion that I readily admit in my poem, struck a chord and it was chosen to be included as a "reminder" of the day.
